Sergio, director, narrator, and participant of his film, returns to his native Colombia to encounter the Càcuas, an indigenous peoples on the brink of extinction. He intends to study the suicides that surround him, but his prolonged contact with the locals transforms his venture. In immersing himself in the community, the ethnologist develops a reflexive view of its members as well as himself.
