With its splendid visual shots, Berg allows a cinematic experience of the sublime. In viewing it, we find ourselves immersed in Slovenian mountains, which are presented to us through the subjectivities and expedition adventures of three hikers. Berg, as director Joke Olthaar says, is not a film to watch, but to experience, and one is easily swept away by the beauty and immensity of its landscapes.
Joke Olthaar, who loves hiking in the mountains, has directed several plays about nature, a subject that fascinates her. The Dutchwoman has directed a musical documentary Here is Harry Merry, which was a big hit at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam.
Berg has been featured in 11 festivals around the world, including the International Film Festival in Rotterdam, the FIDBA in Argentina, the Ulju Mountain Film Festival in South Korea, and many others.
